FAQs
What are we doing?
- We are seeking to raise money for the purchase of eight or more acres of land within three to five miles of Sun Valley High School by the summer of 2009 for roughly $800,000.
Why are we doing it?
- To expand God’s kingdom.
- To tap into our mission field’s sense of permanence – communicating that we are here for our neighbors.
- To expand and mature our current ministries.
- To gather more people and to plant more churches for the multiplication of worship.
Why did we hire an outside consultant?
- To relieve the pastors and staff of undue burdens in their ministry.
- To be as effective as possible and to minimize mistakes that would have hurt our spiritual community.
- To benefit from the intentionally Christian strategy and wise biblical counsel of our consultant, Alan Wildes, and the company Generis.
What will we be asked to do?
- Church members and attendees will be given an opportunity to turn in a commitment card for a three-year commitment over and above their current giving to the operating budget and Faith Promise.
How much more do we need for land and then building?
- Approximately $3.2 million.
Will the money for land and a building hinder or slow our work in missions?
- No, in fact, God’s kingdom will advance even more. We are pursuing a building because, after years of being in a temporary location, we have learned there are limits to what we can do in ministry with children, youth, and church planting.
- Redeemer must pay for a facility -- either to rent or to own. Over the long term, owning is more cost effective than renting and will also better situate Redeemer to grow and multiply. God willing, this will make more resources available for missions and other ministry.
How long after the campaign commitments will it be until we purchase land and start building?
- Purchase land within a year.
- Build a church home within three to five years.
Are there any existing facilities we can buy instead of starting from scratch?
- The Location Team has been looking and will continue to do so.
Does my giving have to be in cash?
- No, in fact, one of the most advantageous ways to give is through appreciated assets such as stocks or land.
What happens if my family makes a commitment, but we are unable to fulfill it?
- Church of the Redeemer is a family of believers with a variety of financial blessings, and we understand that life situations happen. This entire process is based on faith and reliance on God to provide.
How will we benefit from the Capital Stewardship Campaign?
- We will have a facility designed to help us minister to people.
- We will have an improved worship setting and rest from years of setting up and breaking down.
- We will have space for youth, children, church-wide events, sports, and Iglesia del Redentor.
- We will have more developed children’s and youth ministries not limited by space constraints.
How should I determine how much to give?
- Pray for God’s guidance.
- Discuss it with your family.
- Listen to God’s leading and prompting through participation in the campaign.
What is the number one thing any person can do right now to help?
- In a word – PRAY. Ask God for guidance for the church leadership. Prayerfully consider how God would use you to volunteer, to use your spiritual gifts, and to give for His glory in this project. While we certainly have some large financial needs, God is always our focus.
If I have more questions, whom do I ask?
